Jamaica 1919-C half penny
This specimen was lot 1109 in Sedwick Treasure Auction 38 (Winter Park, FL, November 2025), where it sold for $144. The catalog description[1] noted, "JAMAICA, copper-nickel half penny, Edward VII, 1919-C, NGC MS 63, ex-Rudman. Bold strike with great luster, golden-toned obverse but the reverse streaked with darker rainbow toning, virtually no marks. Pedigreed to the Isaac Rudman Collection (stated on label)." The official coinage of Jamaica begins with issues of copper-nickel farthings, half pennies and pennies during the reign of Queen Victoria (1837-1901). These denominations were continued into the reign of George V where this type was struck 1914-20 and 1926-28. This one was struck at Ottawa. Despite the limited mintages, none are rare.
