This specimen was lot 72406 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, October 2019), where it sold for $70. The catalog description[1] noted, "JAMAICA. Penny, 1918-C. PCGS MS-65 Gold Shield. A captivating Gem, this lustrous and brilliant piece is the finest example certified by PCGS." This type was struck 1914-20 and 1926-28 and is not rare in circulated condition. The Ottawa mint struck farthings, halfpence and pence for the colony in 1918-19. Jamaica obtained her independence in 1962 and converted to decimal coinage in 1970, following the example of Great Britain.
