Sincona sale 59, lot 1615

This specimen was lot 1615 in Sincona sale 59 (Zürich, October 2019), where it sold for 225 CHF (about US$273 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"ITALY | Königreich, Vittorio Emanuele III. 1900-1946. 10 Lire 1936 / Anno XIV R, Roma. Fast FDC. Herrliche Patina. (kingdom of Italy, Victor Emanuel III, 1900-46, ten lire of 1936/year 14, Rome mint. About uncirculated, Most attractively toned.)"

Altho this type was struck 1936-41, 1936 is the only available date. Vittorio Emanuele III succeeded his father Umberto upon the latter's assassination in 1900, but by 1936 he was the helpless tool of the Fascists.

Recorded mintage: 619,000.
