This specimen was lot 41093 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Costa Mesa, CA, August 2021), where it sold for $1,020. The catalog description[1] noted, "ITALY. Kingdom. Lira, 1935-R. Rome Mint. PCGS MS-64 Gold Shield. A VERY RARE issue that represents the final year of the design and produced solely for the numismatic community, this near-Gem dazzles with great steely gray brilliance and is exceeded in the PCGS census by just one other example." This type was struck for circulation 1922-24 and 1928. The other dates, including this one, were struck only in proof.
