This specimen was lot 34414 in Heritage sale 3082 (New York, January 2020), where it sold for $1,200. The catalog description[1] noted, "Italy: Vittorio Emanuele III 20 Centesimi 1927-R MS65 NGC, Rome mint. One of the lowest mintage dates in the series, with the previous year kicking off a run of low mintage dates after the over 17 million pieces struck in 1922. Virtually unseen at auction and unheard-of in gem, this being the only certified example." This type was issued in large numbers 1908-14 and 1919-22 but mintages for 1926-35 were for presentation only, much like the twenty lire. The SCWC only lists these late issues in uncirculated.

Recorded mintage: 100.

Specification: 4 g, nickel, 21.5 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: Mont-288, KM 44.
