Italy 1875-R 20 lire
The first specimen was lot 4026 in Stack's-Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2015), where it sold for $364.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "ITALY. 20 Lire, 1875. PCGS MS-62 Secure Holder. An attractive and lustrous piece. Crisp features." It is struck to the same standard as the contemporary French twenty francs. This type was struck in Turin (1861-70), Rome (1870-78) and Milan (1872-74) during the reign of Victorio Emanuele II of Italy (1861-78). The second specimen was lot 2553 in Sincona sale 87 (Zürich, October 2023), where it sold for 300 CHF (about US$404 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[2] noted,
"ITALIEN Königreich, Vittorio Emanuele II. 1861-1878. 20 Lire 1875 R, Roma. Gutes vorzüglich. (kingdom of Italy, Victor Emanuel II, 1861-78, twenty lire of 1875, Rome mint. Good extremely fine.)"

Specification: 6.45 g, 0.900 fine gold, .186 troy oz AGW. the second specimen is 6.43 g.
