Jean Elsen sale 135, lot 1542

This specimen was lot 1542 in Jean Elsen sale 135 (Brussels, December 2017), where it sold for €260 (about US$360 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"ITALIE, Royaume, Victor Emmanuel II (1861-1878), AV 20 lire, 1874M, Milan. Superbe à Fleur de Coin. (kingdom of Italy, Victor Emanuel II, 1861-78, gold twenty lire of 1874, Milan mint. Extremely Fine - Uncirculated.)"

It is struck to the same standard as the contemporary French twenty francs. This type was struck in Turin (1861-70), Rome (1870-78) and Milan (1872-74) during the reign of Victorio Emanuele II of Italy (1861-78).

Recorded mintage: 255,000.

Specification: 6.45 g, 0.900 fine gold, .186 troy oz AGW.
