Italy 1866-T BN 20 lire
This specimen was lot 1591 in Sincona sale 59 (Zürich, October 2019), where it sold for 300 CHF (about US$363 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"ITALY | Königreich, Vittorio Emanuele II. 1861-1878. 20 Lire 1866, Torino. Selten. PCGS AU58. (kingdom of Italy, Victor Emanuel II, 1861-78, twenty lire of 1866, Turin mint. Rare, about uncirculated.)"
This specimen is one of a series struck 1861-70 at the Turin mint during the reign of Vittorio Emanuele II. It is struck to the same standard as the contemporary French twenty francs. This type was also struck in Rome (1870-78) and Milan (1872-74).
