Kingdom of Italy in 1806, from Putzger's Atlas

This specimen was lot 24212 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2018), where it sold for $504. The catalog description[1] noted, "ITALY. Kingdom of Napoleon. Lira, 1809-M. NGC MS-63. Sharply struck with soft satin luster and quite attractive. Ex: Stack's Bowers & Ponterio 06/2011 sale, lot# 8370." This coin was struck in Milan for Napoleon's kingdom of Italy which lasted 1804-1814. The one lira piece matched the French silver franc and was struck in some numbers 1808-14 at Milan, Venice and Bologna.

Recorded mintage: 25,000.

Specification: 5 g, 0.900 fine silver, .144 troy oz ASW, lettered edge.
