This specimen was lot 24580 in Heritage sale 3030 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $998.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "Kingdom of Napoleon. Napoleon I 2 Lire 1808-M, Choice AU. Raised edge lettering. An impressive example and so very close to Mint State with smooth, nearly fully lustrous surfaces that hold varying shades of attractive old-time tone. A very scarce denomination and sub-type and a coin that is worth fighting for. From The Formosa Collection." This coin was struck in Milan for Napoleon's kingdom of Italy which lasted 1804-1814. The two lire piece matched the French two francs and was struck in some numbers 1807-14. The silver two lire was also struck in Milan, Venice and Bologna.

Recorded mintage: 311,000 (including those with incuse edge lettering).

Specification: 10 g, 0.900 fine silver, .288 troy oz ASW, lettered edge.
