Israel 1987 10 new sheqalim Fr-28

Goldberg sale 116, lot 1179

This specimen was lot 1179 in Goldberg sale 116 (Los Angeles, June 2020), where it sold for $870. The catalog description^[1] noted, "Israel. 10 New Sheqalim, 1987. For the 20th Anniversary of United Jerusalem. Choice Brilliant Proof." This type was accompanied by a silver two sheqalim (KM 178), which were probably sold in sets. The coinage was reformed in 1985-86, with 1,000 sheqalim = one new sheqalim.

Recorded mintage: 3,200 proofs, Paris mint.

Specification: 17.28 g, 0.900 fine gold, 0.500 troy oz AGW, 30 mm diameter.
