Israel 1975 25 agorot rev DSLR.jpg

Rapid inflation destroyed the value of the 1949 series and the coinage was reformed in 1960 to 100 agorot = one lira. This type was struck for Israel in 1960-80. Some were made at Jerusalem but most were contracted out to various foreign mints such at Utrecht or Bern. There are some scarce varieties but no date is rare. This specimen bears Hebrew date 5735. Those bearing the Star of David privy mark were struck in copper-nickel for the collector sets.

Recorded mintage: 3,968,000 at Jerusalem plus 61,686 with a star of David privy mark ("✡").

Specification: 6.5 g, aluminum bronze (92% Cu-6% Al-2% Ni), 25.5 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM 27.
