This specimen was lot 1418 in Goldberg Sale 137 (Los Angeles, January 2024), where it sold for $1,982.40. The catalog description[1] noted, "Isle of Man. Angel, 1985. Elizabeth II. Reverse: Archangel Michael slaying dragon. Choice Brilliant Uncirculated. The Highland Estate." The Isle of Man lies in the Irish Sea between Britain and Ireland and remains a British dependency. It is famous for motorcycle racing and tailless cats. Token coppers were issued for the island in the eighteenth century but large production did not commence until 1971. About 1980, the island fell under the domination of the Pobjoy Mint, which has minted and marketed dozens of NCLT commemoratives. This type was struck by the Pobjoy mint 1985-87.

Recorded mintage: 3,000 proofs plus an unknown number of prooflikes.

Specification: 33.93 g, 0.917 fine gold, 1.000 troy oz AGW.
