This specimen was lot 74217 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, November 2023), where it sold for $264. The catalog description[1] noted, "IRELAND. Shilling, 1931. London Mint. PCGS MS-64. A handsome near-Gem that presents silky luster beneath splashes of honey-gold toning." This type is listed for 1928-37, after which the country name was changed to simply "Eire." This date is scarce but not rare like the 1937. Irish coinage was designed to circulate alongside British coinage which was 0.500 fine silver in the thirties.
