This specimen was lot 4339 in Goldberg sale 67 (Los Angeles, January 2012), where it sold for $833.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "Ireland. ½ Crown, 1931. Harp. Reverse: Horse and value. Scarce in top grade. NGC graded MS-63." The first Irish half crowns, issued 1928-37, featured the obverse legend "SAORSTAT EIREANN"; the second type, issued 1939-43, merely stated "EIRE." The subsequent and final type (KM 16a), issued 1951-67, was copper-nickel. This date is the second key after the 1943.
