This specimen was lot 1832 in Steve Album Auction 54 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2026), where it sold for $228. The catalog description[1] noted, "OTTOMAN EMPIRE: Murad III, 1574-1595, AR dirham, Mawsil, AH982, nice strike for this type, with full mint & date, VF, ex Kenneth A. Bovenkamp Collection." The Ottomans conquered Iraq from Iran in 1534 but lost it to them during 1623-39. The Safavids attacked Iraq again in 1733 and besieged but failed to capture Mosul. This dirhem was struck there early in the period of Ottoman rule.
