This specimen was lot 3055 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2017), where it sold for $1,645. The catalog description[1] noted, "IRAQ. 2 Fils, 1931. NGC PROOF-65 RB. VERY RARE proof striking which were usually struck in very small numbers for sets in the mint's holdings, usually no more than ten pieces per mintage. Fully brilliant surfaces with much of the area giving a vibrant lava red hue. Free of any signs of handling and a very attractive specimen. Ex: Bseiso Collection." This type was struck 1931 and 1933 and is not at all common in nice condition. The monarchy lasted 1921-58.
