This specimen was lot 600 in Steve Album Auction 54 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2026), where it sold for $3,120. The catalog description[1] noted, "SAFAVID: 'Abbas I, 1588-1629, AV 2 mithqals, Qazwin, AH996, wonderful strike, with full mint & date, XF, R." During the reign of Abbas I, one mithqal was 4.63 g, making the double mithqal 9.26 g. Later Safavids superseded the mithqal with the ashrafi.
