Iran AH 1295 50 dinars
This specimen was lot 1056 in Sincona sale 85 (Zürich, October 2023), where it sold for 2,300 CHF (about US$3,097 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"IRAN, Nasir al-Din Shah, 1264-1313 AH (1848-1896). 50 Dinars 1295 AH (1878 AD), Tehran Mint. Bronze. Very [r]are in this condition. NGC MS65 BN. Cabinet piece with nice mint luster. From the Kian collection, auction SINCONA 49, October 2018, lot 65. Bought from E. Bourgey, Paris, 1993. Tied with two others for finest certified by NGC."
With the coming of the milled coinage, all of the branch mints were closed and all production was completed in Tehran. One thousand dinars made a kran and ten kran made a toman. This type is listed for AH 1293-1305 and undated. It superseded the billon shahi.
