Iran AH 1204 1/4 mohur KM-587
This specimen was lot 132 in Sincona sale 88 (Zürich, May 2024), where it sold for 3,100 CHF (about US$4,096 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"IRAN, Zand Dynasty, Lotf Ali Khan, 1203-1209 AH (1789-1795). 1/4 Mohur Ashrafi 1204 AH (1790), Kerman Mint. Von grösster Seltenheit, Kleine Kratzer; Of the highest rarity. NGC UNC Details. Small scratches. Purchased from Sotheby's, London, in 1984."
Lotf Ali Khan (Persian: لطفعلیخان زند; c. 1769 – 1794) was the last Shah of the Zand dynasty. He ruled from 1789 to 1794. The long rivalry between the Zands and the Qajars was ended by his capture, torture and execution at the hands of Agha Mohammad Shah. Lotf Ali Khan minted only at Kirman (KM 587, 588). KM 587 is known for AH 1204-1206.
