Sincona sale 92, lot 61

This specimen was lot 61 in Sincona sale 92 (Zürich, October 2024), where it sold for 10,000 CHF (about US$13,860 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"IRAN Zand Dynasty, Sadeq Khan, 1193-1195 AH (1779-1781). Mohur Ashrafi 1194 AH (1780), Shiraz Mint. Äusserst selten. Kleine Kratzer auf Rückseite, Extremely rare. NGC UNC Details, Small scratches on reverse. Purchased from Sotheby's, London, in 1983."

Wikipedia comments, "Sadeq Khan Zand (Persian: صادق‌خان زند, d. 1781), also known as Mohammad Sadeq, was the fourth Shah of the Zand dynasty of Iran from August 22, 1779 until March 14, 1781." Shiraz was the sole mint for this denomination under this ruler. This rare type was struck AH 1194-1195.
