Stack's Bowers September 2025 Collectors Choice Online Auction, lot 76187

This specimen was lot 76187 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2025), where it sold for $85. The catalog description[1] noted, "INDIA. 100 Rupees, 2014-M. Mumbai Mint. NGC PROOF-67 Ultra Cameo. Struck to commemorate the centenary of the Komagata Maru incident." The new Rupee sign "₹" was adopted by the Government of India on 15 July 2010 and began appearing on notes and coins. The symbol had been "₨" heretofore. The Komagata Maru incident occurred in 1914 when a Japanese ship loaded with Indian emigrants docked in Vancouver but was not permitted to disembark its passengers even tho they were British subjects. This NCLT was accompanied by a five rupees (KM 444).

Specification: 35 g, 0.500 fine silver, 44 mm diameter, reeded edge.
