India 2015 500 rupees
This specimen was lot 76188 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2025), where it sold for $105. The catalog description[1] noted, "INDIA. 500 Rupees, 2015. Kolkata Mint. NGC PROOF-68 Ultra Cameo. Struck to commemorate the 3rd India-Africa Forum Summit." The new Rupee sign "₹" was adopted by the Government of India on 15 July 2010 and began appearing on notes and coins. The symbol had been "₨" heretofore. The SCWC mentions another 500 rupees of 2015 (KM 454) but not this one. The obverse depicts the logo of the meeting, a outline of Africa and India superimposed on the head of a lion. The Wikipedia article, written before the event, mentions 54 countries were invited to participate but does not state how many actually attended.
