This specimen was lot 72359 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, October 2019), where it sold for $432. The catalog description[1] noted, "INDIA. Rupee, 1985-H. Heaton Mint. PCGS SPECIMEN-66 Gold Shield. This piece, a dazzling plus Gem, offers intense radiance and luster, with a light degree of frosting to the devices. Ex: King's Norton Mint Collection." This type was struck in large quantities at Bombay, Calcutta, London, Heaton (shown here), Hyderabad and Noida 1982-90.

Recorded mintage: 444,516,000, including London, Bombay and Calcutta.

Specification: 6 g, copper-nickel, 26 mm diameter, security edge.
