from the Stack's Bowers 2024 ANA sale, lot 46760

This specimen was lot 46760 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2024), where it sold for $45. The catalog description[1] noted, "INDIA. 1/4 Anna, 1941-(B). Bombay Mint. George VI. NGC AU-58." This type was struck 1940-42 at Bombay (shown here) and Calcutta. Most dates are common to very common but this one is very scarce. This example realized less than half the catalog value. In 1942, the denomination was terminated.

Recorded mintage: 1,446,000 plus restrikes plus 121,107,000 from Calcutta.

Specification: 4.60 g, bronze, 25.33 mm diameter.
