This specimen was lot 1759 in Sedwick Treasure Auction 28 (Winter Park, FL, November 2020), where it sold for $48. The catalog description[1] noted, "Calcutta, India (British), 1/4 rupee, Edward VII, 1904, NGC MS 62. Bright white appearance without any toning." The quarter rupee struck during the Raj was about the size of a dime but contained about 12¢ of silver. All the Edward VII issues were struck at Calcutta except for a few made at Bombay in 1910.
Reported Mintage: 10,026,000 plus proofs.
Specification: 2.92 g, 0.917 fine silver.
