This specimen was lot 24055 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (Newport Beach, CA, January 2021), where it sold for $264. The catalog description[1] noted, "INDIA. 2 Annas, 1893-C. Calcutta Mint. Victoria. NGC MS-64. Incuse C. An attractive light toned survivor exhibiting a bold strike displaying mottled gray patina." This type was issued at Calcutta and Bombay 1877-1901 in a bewildering array of varieties, including proofs, off-metal strikes and restrikes. The type is the smallest silver denomination. For 1893, the Calcutta product is marked with an incuse "C"; Bombay used an incuse "B". The mintmarks (or lack of them) varied from year to year.

Recorded mintage: 8,003,000 + proofs.

Specification: 1.46 g, .917 silver, .043 troy oz ASW.
