This specimen was lot 2691 in Stephen Album sale 38 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2020), where it sold for $101.15. The catalog description[1] noted, "BRITISH INDIA: Victoria, Queen, 1837-1876, AR ¼ rupee, 1876(c), PCGS graded AU58." This type was issued at Calcutta and Bombay 1877-1901 in a bewildering array of varieties, including proofs, off-metal strikes and restrikes. The type is the second smallest silver denomination. It is the last year with the obverse legend, "VICTORIA QUEEN."
