Sedwick sale 25, lot 1131

This specimen was lot 1131 in Sedwick sale 25 (Winter Park, FL, May 2019), where it sold for $416.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Bombay, India (British), 2 annas, Victoria, 1874(B), NGC MS 63. Deep blue toning on obverse and lighter rainbow colors on reverse, practically no wear or marks, trace of die-clashing on reverse, second highest grade in NGC census behind just three MS 64's. NGC #4725063-012." This type was struck 1862 and 1874-76. It is the smallest silver denomination. It was superseded by a type with the obverse legend "VICTORIA EMPRESS".

Recorded mintage: 9,508,000 + 5,690,000 from Calcutta.

Specification: 1.46 g, 0.917 fine silver.
