CNG Triton XXIX, lot 1054

This specimen was lot 1054 in CNG Triton XXIX (New York, January 2026), where it sold for $2,327.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "INDIA, Princely States. Hyderabad. Mir Mahbub Ali Khan II. AH 1285-1329 / AD 1869-1911. AV Half Ashrafi. Haidarabad mint. Dually dated AH 1329 and RY 44 (AD 1911). Chahar Minar gateway; initial in doorway mim in Persian; AH date below / Calligraphic legend citing name and titles; RY date to left. Light die rust, areas of underlying luster. UNC." The princely state of Hyderabad was one of the last absorbed into the Republic of India in 1948. It was also the largest state and residence of the last remnant of Mughal suzerainty in central India. The SCWC lists this rare type for AH 1328/43 and AH 1329/44 but we also show a AH 1327/42. The regnal date is on the reverse, about 8 o'clock.

Specification: 5.58 g, 0.910 fine gold; this specimen 22.5 mm diameter, 5.63 g, 12 h axis.
