from the Stack's Bowers June 2021 Collector's Choice sale, lot 71604

This specimen was lot 71604 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2021), where it sold for $432. The catalog description^[1] noted, "HUNGARY. 10000 Forint, 1992-BP. Budapest Mint. NGC PROOF-68 Ultra Cameo. Struck to commemorate the 650th anniversary of the death of King Karoly Robert. An attractive Proof with hard mirrored fields and frosted cameo devices." Post-communist Hungary issued several NCLT's 1991-93 using the format of the obsolete double ducat struck by the Hapsburgs.
