Hungary 1989-BP 500 forint KM-671
This specimen was lot 3325 in Aureo y Calicó sale 422 (Barcelona, December 2023), where it sold for 20 € (about US$26 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "Hungría. 1989. BP(Budapest). 500 florines. Juegos Olímpicos - Barcelona '92. AG. Proof." This NCLT was one of a pair issued for the Olympic Games. Other NCLT's for 1989 honored the World Cup (KM 669) and UNICEF (KM 670). We believe it was issued before the fall of communism as "Magyar Népköztársaság" (People's Republic of Hungary) was shortened to "Magyar Köztársaság" (Republic of Hungary) on October 23, 1989.
