This type was struck in Budapest by the Horthy regime for the 75th Birthday of Admiral Miklós Horthy. He was forced out of power by the Nazis in 1944 for failing to deliver enough Jews to the Holocaust but survived the war. The Hungarian pengö, introduced to replace the Austro-Hungarian korona, was inflated to nothing in 1945-46 and replaced by the forint.
Recorded mintage: 2,000,000 plus restrikes.
