Hungary 1911-KB 20 korona
The first specimen was lot 2306 in Sincona sale 94 (Zürich, October 2024), where it sold for 1,350 CHF (about US$1,871 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"RDR / ÖSTERREICH Franz Joseph I. 1848-1916. 20 Korona 1911 KB, Kremnitz. Das neben zwei weiteren durch NGC zweithöchstbewertete Exemplar. (empire of Austria-Hungary, Francis Joseph I, 1848-1916, twenty corona of 1911, Kremnitz mint. NGC MS62. Tied with two others for second finest certified by NGC.)"
The second specimen was lot 906 in Sincona Auction 103 (Zürich, May 2026), where it sold for 1,250 CHF (about US$1,905 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[2] noted,
"RDR / ÖSTERREICH Franz Joseph I. 1848-1916. 20 Korona 1911 KB, Kremnitz. (Austria, Francis Joseph I, 1848-1916, twenty korona of 1911, Kremnitz mint. NGC AU58.)"
This type, issued 1892-1915 for Hungary, superseded the eight forint and was about 5% heavier.
Recorded mintage: 62,791, a better date.
Specification: 6.77 g, 0.900 fine gold, 21 mm diameter, the first specimen 6.76 g.
