G119-2188r.jpg

This specimen was lot 2188 in Goldberg sale 122 (Los Angeles, June 2021), where it sold for $168. The catalog description[1] noted, "Hungary. Harom (3) Krajczar, 1849. War of Independence. Glossy mint luster. NGC graded MS-62 Brown." This harom krajczar was issued by the Kossuth rebels during their insurrection against the Hapsburg regime. Disunity among the rebels who made little effort to conciliate the non-Magyar minorities in Hungary and Russian intervention caused the revolt to collapse and Kossuth went into exile. This coin was accompanied by KM 430 (1 krajczar), KM 435 (6 krajczar) and KM 431 (10 krajczar).

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: copper.

Catalog reference: KM-434.
