Hungary 1710-CH PW thaler Dav-1023
This specimen was lot 32982 in Heritage sale 3089 (Dallas, TX, January 2021), where it sold for $7,800. The catalog description[1] noted, "Hungary. Joseph I Taler 1710/07 CH-PW AU58 NGC, Pressburg mint. A praiseworthy representative of this fleeting taler issue demonstrating a level of preservation that places the offering at the very cusp of uncirculated condition. Only the most minute rub is discernible across the highpoints of the design, while the fields preserve ample underlying luster, set underneath a metallic patina carrying gentle golden undertones. From the T. R. Fehrenbach Collection." This type, struck 1705-11, is rare like most products of this mint.
