Steve Album sale 54, lot 2761

This specimen was lot 2761 in Steve Album Auction 54 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2026), where it sold for $156. The catalog description[1] noted, "HUNGARY: Leopold I, 1657-1705, AR 15 krajczar, Kremnitz, 1688-KB, variety with narrower bust, lightly toned obverse, some luster, VF-XF." This type was struck at the Kremnitz mint in Slovakia 1685-90. This older bust shows the emperor with curly or wavy hair whereas earlier fifteen kreuzer showed the emperor with straight hair. Fifteen kreuzer was one quarter forint or gulden or one-sixth of a thaler.
