Hungary 1659-KB thaler Dav-3198
This specimen was lot 1636 in Jean Elsen sale 164 (Brussels, March 2026), where it sold for €180 (about US$251 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SAINT EMPIRE, Ferdinand III (1637-1657), AR Taler, 1659 KB, Kremnitz. Type hongrois. Frappe posthume. D/ B. l. à d. R/ Aigle impériale couronnée, l'écu de Hongrie sur la poitrine. Trace de monture. Beau à Très Beau. (Holy Roman Empire, Ferdinand III, 1637-57, silver thaler of 1659, Kremnitz mint, Hungarian type, posthumous strike. Obverse: laureate bust right; reverse: crowned imperial eagle supports the arms of Hungary. Mount mark, Fine - Very Fine.)"
The Kremnitz mint struck this type 1637-61. The mint also struck thalers (KM 148/Dav-3254) for Leopold I in 1659.
