Hungary 1657-KB 1/4 thaler
This specimen was lot 3184 in Sincona sale 57 (Zürich, May 2019), where it sold for 1,500 CHF (about US$1,785 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE - AUSTRIA, Ferdinand III. 1637-1657. 1/4 Taler 1657 KB, Kremnitz. Selten. Gutes vorzüglich. Überdurchschnittliche Erhaltung. Herrliche Patina. Feine Haarlinien. (Holy Roman Empire, Ferdinand III, 1637-57, quarter thaler of 1657, Kremnitz mint. Rare, Good extremely fine, Much better than average condition, Most attractive patina, Minor hairlines.)"
This type was struck for emperor Ferdinand III 1639-57. The mintmark "KB" is just visible on the reverse by the eagle's claws.
