Hungary 1612-KB thaler Dav-3053
This specimen was lot 3242 in Sincona sale 23 (Zürich, May 2015), where it sold for 525 CHF (about US$660 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"UNGARN, Matthias II. 1608-1619 Taler 1612. Kremnitz. Sehr schön-gutes sehr schön. (kingdom of Hungary, Matthais II (1608-19), thaler of 1612, Kremnitz mint, very fine to good very fine.)"
The SCWC correctly catalogs this under Hungary, not Austria. Hungary in 1610 was partitioned between the Austrians and the Turks and was not part of the Empire. This type was struck 1611-13. It is very similar to Dav-3051 but has a different obverse legend.
Recorded mintage: 43,000 (including Dav-3051).
Specification: silver, this specimen 28.57 g.
Catalog reference: Dav-3053; Huszar 1107, KM 34.
