Hungary 1592-KB thaler Dav-8066
This specimen was lot 3179 in Sincona Auction 101 (Zürich, October 2025), where it sold for 550 CHF (about US$829 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"RDR / ÖSTERREICH Rudolf II. 1576-1612. Taler 1592 KB, Kremnitz. Vorzügliches gut ausgeprägtes Exemplar. Kleiner Kratzer im Avers und einige Randschläge. (Holy Roman Empire, Rudolf II, 1576-1612, thaler of 1592, Kremnitz mint. Extremely Fine, well struck specimen, Small scratch on obverse and several edge nicks.)"
The Hapsburg ruler styled himself king of Hungary but actually ruled only a slice near the Austrian border, the remainder being divided between the Ottoman Turks and the prince of Transylvania. Davenport lists this type for 1578-1600 as Dav-8066 and 1601-08 as Dav-3013.
