This specimen was lot 34242 in Heritage sale 3082 (New York, January 2020), where it sold for $2,040. The catalog description[1] noted, "Hungary: Wladislaus II (1490-1516) gold Goldgulden 1512 K-G XF45 NGC, Kremnitz mint. WLADISLAI (LA's ligate) D | G • R • VNGARIE, Madonna and child / • LADISLAVS • REX 151Z •, king standing facing, halberd in right hand, globus cruciger in left; K-G to either side. A very rare issue and only the second goldgulden of Wladislaus we have offered, well-struck on a highly regular flan." Friedberg lists this type for 1503-17 and notes it as among the more available of Hungarian gold coins. Wladislaus was also king of Bohemia and Croatia. Wladislaus' successor Lajos II was killed in 1526 fighting the Turks at Mohacs, ending Hungarian independence.
