Hungary (1467)-N goldgulden Fr-20
This specimen was lot 2434 in Sincona sale 94 (Zürich, October 2024), where it sold for 1,550 CHF (about US$2,148 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"UNGARN Matthias Corvinus, 1458-1490. Goldgulden o. J. (1467), Nagybanya. Unbekannter Münzmeister aus der Dengelegy-Pongrac-Familie. Vorzüglich. (kingdom of Hungary, Matthias Corvinus, 1458-90, undated goldgulden, circa 1467, Nagybanya mint. Extremely Fine.)"
The ducats or florins or goldgulden of Hungary are among the more common gold coins of the late middle ages. This type was struck with multiple mintmarks and assayers' arms.
