Sincona sale 59, lot 2480

This specimen was lot 2480 in Sincona sale 59 (Zürich, October 2019), where it sold for 2,400 CHF (about US$2,907 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Ungarn, Albrecht, 1437-1439. Goldgulden o. J. (1438), Kremnitz. Münzmeister Andreas Lang. Selten. Gutes vorzüglich. Hübsche Patina. (kingdom of Hungary, Albrecht, 1437-39, undated goldgulden, Kremnitz mint, mintmaster Andreas Lang. Rare, Good extremely fine, Attractively toned.)"

The ducats or florins or goldgulden of Hungary are among the more common gold coins of the late middle ages. This one, however, is rare.
