Honan Province in the south east of China began coin production in 1647. A mint for struck coinage began operation in 1905.
The specimen shown was lot 60179 in Ponterio sale 162 (Hong Kong, August 2011), where it sold for $215. The catalog description[1] noted, “CHINA. Hunan. 20 Cash, ND (1919). 湖南省造當制錢二十文。Reverse brockage. 陰陽面。EXTREMELY FINE.”
