This specimen was lot 30088 in Heritage sale 3040 (Chicago, April 2015), where it sold for $2,115. The catalog description[1] noted, "British Colony - Victoria 5 Cents 1880-H MS66 NGC, Heaton mint. This small, yet impressive gem features impeccably bold details and light, all-over tone. Fully lustrous and highly appealing in all regards. From The Law Collection." This type was struck at the Heaton Mint sporadically 1872-1901 and this date is listed as scarce. British coinage for Hong Kong ceased in 1997 when the island was returned to China.

Recorded mintage: 300,000.

Specification: 1.35 g, 0.800 fine silver, .035 troy oz ASW.
