This specimen was lot 7187 in Ponterio sale 152 (New York, January 2010), where it sold for $1,265. The catalog description[1] noted, "HONDURAS. Peso, 1901. Exceptionally choice for this date. NGC MS-64." This is a later date of a type struck 1888-1922. None are common, tho this is one of scarcer dates. In 1931, the peso was dropped in favor of the lempira and the mintage of gold for circulation ceased.
