The specimen shown is a high grade example of a type struck in Honduras 1886 and 1895-96. Earlier silver five centavos exist dated 1871, 1879 and 1884-86. Most show evidence of the primitive conditions in which they were made. The specimen here has planchet flaking, a large cud obliterating part of the reverse legend and a badly garbled date.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 1.25 g, 0.835 fine silver, .034 troy oz ASW.
