Holland 1724 stuiver
This specimen was lot 803 in Jean Elsen sale 140 (Brussels, March 2019), where it sold for €200 (about US$266 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"NEDERLAND, HOLLAND, Provincie, AV wapenstuiver, 1724. Afslag in goud (1/2 dukaat). Vz/ Gekroond provinciewapen tussen 1-S. Kz/ Provincienaam en jaartal. bijna Prachtig. (Netherlands, province of Holland, gold shield stuiver of 1724. Obverse: crowned arms divide "1-S"; reverse: provincial name and date. about Extremely Fine.)"
This type was struck in Holland 1724-26 and 1731-38 of debased silver. The catalog also records a lengthy series struck in gold. The gold stuiver weighed half a ducat.
