Jacqueline of Bavaria was countess of Hainaut and heiress of her father William of Holland but could not get recognition of her claim to Holland from the emperor. Eventually, after plots, wars and intrigue, she reluctantly signed a treaty with her cousin Philip the Good ceding to him her rights in exchange for him clearing up her many debts. In 1428-33, Philip issued coinage in Holland declaring himself her regent. This chaise d'or has "x JACOB x" at the bottom of the obverse. Jacqueline died in 1436.
